Bellevue Public Schools offers free developmental screenings and evaluations for children whose parents have concerns about their development. Evaluations can take place at the child's home or at the early childhood office. Parents/caregivers will be asked to provide input as part of the evaluation process.
-
The evaluation team may include various specialists. The evaluation will be completed through play, observation, formal tasks, and parent input.
-
After an evaluation, the team will share results via a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) report. This report is reviewed at a meeting between the parent/caregiver and the education team and will determine if your child qualifies for services.
-
If your child does qualify for services, the team will work with you to create an individualized plan. This plan will include goals and recommended services to support your child.
-
If your child does not qualify for services, strategies may be provided. Additionally, a team member may follow up with your family 3-6 months following the evaluation to determine if there are any new or ongoing concerns.
