• Referral/Screening Information 

      • The following links provide general information about early childhood development and services in Nebraska: 

      • Children Birth to Age 3: 

        • Referrals can be made by filling out this Birth to Age 3 Referral Form or calling the BPS Early Childhood Program office at 402-293-4941

        • Once a referral has been made, a services coordinator will contact the parent/caregiver to explain the intake and evaluation process and answer any questions. 

      • Referrals for children age 3-5 with a developmental concern

        • Referrals can be made by calling the BPS Early Childhood Program office at 402-293-4941. 

        • A screening will be scheduled at the time the referral is made. Based on the results of this screening, additional testing may be recommended. 

        • Caregiver information and input is used as part of the screening process. 

      • Preschool

        • For preschool-age children (4 years of age before July 31 of the upcoming school year)  for whom there is not a developmental concern, screenings for a placement in preschool begin in January each year. A screening can be scheduled by calling the BPS Early Childhood Program office at 402-293-4941. 

        • Caregiver information and input is used as part of the screening process. 

        • Based on the results of the screening, a preschool placement may be made. Information about preschool placements will be sent out during the spring semester.
