The following links provide general information about early childhood development and services in Nebraska:

Children Birth to Age 3:

Referrals can be made by filling out this Birth to Age 3 Referral Form or calling the BPS Early Childhood Program office at 402-293-4941

Once a referral has been made, a services coordinator will contact the parent/caregiver to explain the intake and evaluation process and answer any questions.

Referrals for children age 3-5 with a developmental concern

Referrals can be made by calling the BPS Early Childhood Program office at 402-293-4941.

A screening will be scheduled at the time the referral is made. Based on the results of this screening, additional testing may be recommended.

Caregiver information and input is used as part of the screening process.

Preschool
-
For preschool-age children (4 years of age before July 31 of the upcoming school year) for whom there is not a developmental concern, screenings for a placement in preschool begin in January each year. A screening can be scheduled by calling the BPS Early Childhood Program office at 402-293-4941.

Caregiver information and input is used as part of the screening process.

Based on the results of the screening, a preschool placement may be made. Information about preschool placements will be sent out during the spring semester.
