Boys Tennis
Our primary expectation for the boys on the tennis team is that they give their best effort each and every day, both on the court and in the classroom. While some consider the sport "individual," we do not. Our players will support each other no matter what. Friendships will be made that will last a lifetime. We strive to win and will compete at a high level. The main focus, however is "effort and attitude." Win or lose, we will do so with class and as a team.
We offer Tuesday and Thursday night "open courts" at 7:00 p.m. each week in the summer. We will also hold a six day boys tennis camp on in July. The camp is for boys entering grades 5-8 at 9:00-10:30 a.m., and for boys entering grades 9-12 at 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Boys and Girls Cross Country
Thunderbird Cross Country is a fall sport for boys and girls that involves distance running and racing over a distance of 5 kilometers (3.1 miles). The season begins at the opening of school in August and runs until mid-October. Practice is held daily after school from 3:45 until approximately 5:30 p.m. Both boys and girls practice together under the direction of one head coach but they race separately.
There are no cuts in cross country so everyone remains on the team and there are no bench warmers...everyone competes. Both the varsity (top 7 runners) and junior varsity compete in a 10 meet schedule culminating with the State Cross Country Meet in Kearney. The T-Birds have had a number of state qualifying teams and individual state medalists over the years.
While wanting to field the very best team to represent West, head coach Larissa Knudson strongly believes in turning her athletes into lifelong runners themselves by offering opportunities to run and compete throughout the calendar year.
