2D Art Exploration
Explore the world of two-dimensional art through drawing, painting, printmaking, and collage! In this class, you’ll learn techniques like color theory, texture, and composition while studying famous artists and their styles. From creating prints to designing an explosion book, you’ll unleash your creativity and discover how art connects to science, math, and technology!
Period Offered: 1 or 4
3D Art Exploration
Dive into the exciting realm of three-dimensional art with sculpture, clay modeling, and architectural design! In this class, you’ll build everything from textured clay sculptures to kinetic mobiles, while learning about famous sculptors and their techniques. Get ready to think outside the box and see how art intersects with engineering, design, and the world around you!

ADVENTURES IN READING
Reading good books during the summer is one of the best ways to keep students engaged in new ideas and their literacy skills sharp for the new school year. This class will enlist the imagination and build students’ understanding of oneself, other people, other places, and other times. Students will read novels as a group and participate in class discussions.

CODING
Coding helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic, and creativity. During this class, students will have the opportunity to explore the basics of coding and challenge themselves with more advanced programming opportunities.

ENGINEERING
Students will collaborate to complete engineering challenges including an egg drop challenge, building straw towers, straw rockets, and water bottle rockets. Students will use the scientific method to maximize the use of limited supplies and achieve success in these challenges.

INTRO TO DRAMA
This is a beginning drama course that will introduce students to pantomime, monologue, improv, and acting.

KEYBOARDING & DIGITAL LITERACY
Improve your keyboarding skills and efficiency while also learning about digital citizenship, online safety and how to use digital tools to create, communicate, and succeed at school.

MAKERSPACE BREAKOUT
Engage your brain with practical activities, projects, building, and more! You will tap into your problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity skills without even realizing it as you enjoy many hands-on and captivating activities. Remove boredom from your life by finding interests and hobbies that you enjoy doing!

METEOROLOGY
Have you ever wanted to know more about measuring, predicting, and understanding the weather? Students in this class will learn about the forces that shape the Earth’s weather and how weather phenomena occur. Students will use meteorological equipment to take and record daily local weather measurements as well as study global weather patterns.

OVERCOMING OBSTACLES
Students will learn important life skills that will help them throughout middle school. Lessons and activities will focus on communication, decision making, goal setting, and more.

PE: SPORTS & GAMES
This class will focus on sportsmanship and teamwork along with the fundamental skills of a variety of team sports. Students will also participate in fitness activities that promote a healthy lifestyle.

TURNING POINTS IN AMERICAN HISTORY
This course explores pivotal moments in American history that shaped the nation's political, social, and economic development. Students will engage in discussions, primary and secondary source analysis, and research activities to deepen their understanding of these historical turning points. Additionally, students will develop research and reading strategies to analyze historical texts effectively.

7th GRADE MATH OFFERINGS

MATH 7 PREP
This course is for students who would benefit from reviewing math skills including multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and percent.

MATH 7 ADVANCED PREP
This course will focus on the skills necessary to successfully make the transition from 6th grade Math to Math 7 Advanced. (Note: This course is for 6th graders who have been recommended by their teachers to take Math 7 Advanced in 7th grade.)

7th GRADE ALGEBRA ADVANCED PREP
This course will focus on refining pre-algebra skills to help students make a successful transition from 6th grade math to 7th grade Algebra Advanced. (Note: This course is for 6th graders who have been recommended by their teachers to take Algebra Advanced in 7th grade.)

This class will focus on preparing students for the 8th grade Advanced Geometry course. Students in this class are currently enrolled in 7th grade Algebra Advanced and have registered for 8th grade Geometry Advanced for the fall of 2025.
