Interventions We Offer at LFMS
Warrior Summit
Warrior Summit is a simple program with the goal of encouraging positive feelings about coming to school every day and helping kids focus on school-wide expectations throughout the day. Our staff wants all students to feel noticed and to feel like they have someone who really knows and cares about them. Each member of the staff chooses at least two students with whom they want to work.
SOS - Study Opportunity Session
Morning SOS meets in the library in the morning, and anyone is welcome to drop in. It runs from 7:30- 8:00 am.
Afternoon SOS is by invitation only (this allows us to make sure the teacher-to-student ratio is very small). It meets from 4-5, and we have snacks provided by Bellevue Together. Students are signed up for a week at a time. The goal is to finish all missing work.
Logan Connections - Edmentum
Students’ MAP scores determine their Logan Connections classes. For students placing in the bottom 30th percentile in math, reading, or both, classes focus on using the Edmentum program. Edmentum is an online program that uses the results of the MAP test to offer students teaching, practicing, and assessment of missing skills. Any extra time is spent on character education or career exploration.
Logan Connections - Math and Reading Labs
Students’ MAP scores determine their Logan Connections classes. For students placing anywhere from the 31st percentile up to approximately the 60th percentile in math, reading, or both, classes focus on teacher-led skill-building. Any extra time is spent on character education or career exploration.
Classroom Survival Skills
Students whose team teachers feel they need small group instruction and problem-solving are chosen to participate in a one-day-a-week guided study for one quarter. They review Following Instructions, Active LIstening, Bringing Materials, Grit, Making Decisions, Preparing for Tasks, Ignoring Distractions, Asking for Help, and Speaking Assertively and Respectfully.
