USDA Extends Free Meals for All Students through 2021-22 School Year

The USDA has extended FREE Breakfast and Lunch for all students through the 2021-22 school year or until funding is depleted. Your student(s) enrolled in Bellevue Public Schools can continue receiving one complete breakfast and one complete lunch per day.

How does this affect your student’s school lunch status?

If your student is a full pay or reduced lunch status, they will continue to be temporarily FREE status. There will be no meal charges made to the student’s account through the 2021-22 school year or until the district is notified by the USDA and State Authorities that the funding is depleted. There are no specific details on when this funding may run out, so like everything has been related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), it will be a fluid process and we will notify families as soon as possible of any changes. At that point the student’s account will return to their original lunch status and charged accordingly.

A la carte options will still be available and charged to the student’s meal account. Funds will need to continue to be added into the student’s meal account to cover a la carte charges. You can add funds to your student’s account using your MySchoolBucks account:

Beginning July 1st, we highly encourage parents/guardians to please fill out the Eligibility Meal Application to apply for free and reduced status, so that when regular meal prices resume you will still receive the appropriate meal benefits. The application will be available on our website beginning July 1st.

This extended opportunity may be a time for families to catch up on their student's meal account and pay those negative balances. And, an even better time to help a family in need by donating towards their negative account balances. Please contact BPS Food Service directly to help today at 402-293-5033 or 402-293-5032.
