Sarpy County/ESU #3 Head Start is a federally funded program that provides high-quality, comprehensive early childhood education for income-eligible children from birth to age five. Our mission is to promote school readiness and empower families to build long-term stability and success.

We offer a nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports children’s growth in key areas—including language, literacy, cognitive development, physical health, and social-emotional well-being.

We value parents as their child’s first and most influential teachers. Our program builds strong partnerships with families to support overall well-being, encourage positive parent-child relationships, promote lifelong learning, and ease transitions into kindergarten. Through strength-based, individualized services, we also help families access vital community resources.

Program Options Include:

  • Head Start: Center-based preschool/pre-kindergarten classes (6.5 hours per day) for children ages 3 to 5

  • Early Head Start:

    • Home-Based Services: Weekly 90-minute home visits and twice-monthly group socializations

    • Center-Based Services: Full-day (7.5 hours) care for infants and toddlers

To qualify, families must reside in Sarpy County and meet federal income eligibility requirements.

Applications are accepted year-round. Apply online at: https://www.esu3.org/HS/Home
