Flood Update: Families Impacted, Shelter Information & Donations/Supports

*The BPS Lied Activity Center (2700 Arboretum Drive) will remain open until 9pm each night to allow those impacted who need shower facilities and/or charging stations for devices.

 

Bellevue Public Schools is very thankful and appreciative for the outpouring of community support for our students, staff and families that have been impacted by the flooding. In regards to donations, our schools do not have the space nor supports to take on the collection of donations. We are asking those wanting to help that you reference the options below which would have more of a direct impact on our students, staff and families in BPS…

Flood Relief Locations - Bellevue

  • Bellevue Christian Center Distribution Center (1400 Harvell Drive). Open Mon-Fri 8:30 am - 7pm, and Sat-Sun 8:30 am - 1pm.
     
  • St. James United Methodist Church Distribution Center (4343 Capehart Rd). Open 8am - 8pm. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. They have clothes, cleaning supplies, non-perishable food, hygiene kits, and water.
     
  • Bellevue Church of Christ Food and Supply Distribution Center (2311 Madison St.) Open daily noon - 8pm. They will have food, water, hygiene supplies, infant care products and cleaning supplies.

 

Volunteer Opportunities

Distribution Centers:

Kitchen Help: The Salvation Army will be producing 1500+ meals a day for area shelters, disaster workers, mobile feeding.  Mass feeding – two hot meals a day and lunch.  Emergency Canteens will route to impacted neighborhoods for food, snacks and hydration.

Ongoing and Immediate Needs: Those who wish to volunteer their time to help prepare Salvation Army meals at the Kroc Center and to help distribute breakfast, lunch and dinner to shelters in the Bellevue area can email the Salvation Army or call 402-905-3552.

  • Bellevue Christian Center, 1400 Harvell Drive, Bellevue 68005. Phone 402-291-0616. This is NOT a shelter, but is a distribution site, open Monday-Friday 8:30am-7pm and Sat/Sun 8:30am-1pm.

They are FULLY STOCKED on clothes as of now, but these are the items they are in need of: Non Perishable Food, Toiletries, Flushable Wipes, Depends, Baby Items, Band-aids/Bandages, Towels, Cleaning Supplies, Laundry Baskets, Pillows.

  • Bellevue Together will be collecting donations Tuesday and Wednesday this week from 10 am - 8pm. Please call 402-306-0465 if you are coming Thursday with donations. Please bring the donations to New Beginnings Worship Center, 2231 Jefferson Street, in Olde Towne Bellevue.

Since next week is spring break for Bellevue Public Schools they will be supply snacks and games for the students/families that have been impacted.

They are collecting the following: packets of individual servings of applesauce, Jell-O, pudding cups, granola bars, fruit bars, cheese filled crackers, peanut butter-filled crackers, Rice Krispie treats, apples, oranges, cuties, juice boxes, fruit juice pouches, Oreo cookies, ramen noodle cups, and gift cards to fast food restaurants.
 

  • Bellevue Church of Christ, 2311 Madison Street, Bellevue 68005. Phone 402-291-3585. This is a food and supply distribution site, open daily from 12noon-8pm. Providing Food, Water, Infant Supplies, Hygiene Products and Cleaning Supplies.

     
  • Bellevue Food Pantry, 1908 Hancock Street, Bellevue 68005. Phone 402-292-2961. Contact them directly for available hours the pantry is open and also if you wish to donate.

     
  • Bellevue Community Foundation has established a Disaster Relief fund, to donate monetarily click here. You can also drop off cash or check contributions to this fund to the Mayor's Office at Bellevue City Hall at 1500 Wall Street during regular business hours or at Bellevue Junior Sports Association at 1001 High School Drive during their regular business hours as well. Make checks out to Bellevue Community Foundation Disaster Relief. All of these funds will be used to help flood victims in the Bellevue area.

BPS Families – if you have been impacted by the flooding and/or had to evacuate, please reach out to us so we can continue to support you. We are working to make arrangements regarding transportation for students (if needed), so please be sure to contact us through one of these channels:

BPS Staff - if you have been impacted by the flooding and not already done so, please communicate with your direct supervisor so that we can help with any support needs you may have.

 

Shelter Information & Ways to Donate/Help:

  • The Red Cross has a shelter at Calvary Christian Church (Calvary North Building), 10100 Cedar Island Rd, Bellevue, 68123. Phone 402-293-1700. The entrance will be on the northeast side of the building. They are open as a shelter, NOT accepting donations at this site.
     
  • Thanksgiving Lutheran Church, 3702 370 Plaza, Bellevue 68123. Phone 402-292-2695. They have opened their doors to all those displaced by the flood in order for them to charge phones, stay warm/dry, eat, etc. (Monday - Friday this week 7am - 9pm) They are no longer accepting donations but redirecting those to Bellevue Christian Center.

     
  • Bellevue Christian Center, 400 Harvell Drive, Bellevue 68005. Phone 402-291-0616. This is NOT a shelter, but are a distribution site, open Monday-Friday 8:30am-7pm and Sat/Sun 8:30am-1pm. If you are able to volunteer to help at the distribution center please sign up at: www.bellevuechristian.com/floodrelief They are also taking specific donations: Clothing/Shoes, Pet Supplies, Blankets/Pillows, Non Perishable Food, Toiletries, Baby Items, and Cleaning Supplies.

     
  • First Baptist Church, 112 E 23rd Avenue, Bellevue 68005. Phone 402-291-3378. There are open as a shelter.

     
  • Kroc Center, 2825 Y Street, Omaha 68107. They are a Salvation Army distribution site, also providing counseling.

     
  • Bellevue Food Pantry, 1908 Hancock Street, Bellevue 68005. Phone 402-292-2961. Contact them directly for available hours the pantry is open and also if you wish to donate.

     
  • Wednesday, March 20th from 5:00-6:30pm only. BPS Mobile Food Pantry with FoodBank for the Heartland, Mission Middle School, 2202 Washington Street, Bellevue (go to front side of school). The Clothing Closet will also be available with clothing for children and adults.

     
  • To donate monetarily, click here.
