High School Graduation Location

A recommendation was presented to the Board of Education and the Bellevue Public School District during the School Board meeting on February 8, 2016, to consider an option of moving the high school graduations this May 2016, to the Ralston Arena. After additional research and input from both high school principals, as well as input from school board members, it has been decided to keep graduation at the high schools for 2016 and not move to the Ralston Arena.

The primary reason for this decision is capacity. Bellevue East has a capacity of 3,400 and Bellevue West 3,200. These numbers do not include seating for graduates and some guests on the gym floor. According to the information presented on February 8th, the Ralston Arena will hold 3,372, not including graduates and guests on the floor. In the case of Bellevue East this would actually reduce the capacity and not allow for overflow, which we have in the auditoriums of both schools.

As has always been the case, staff at both high schools will make special efforts to ensure that immediate family members can be seated in the gym for the ceremony.
