Jon Mauro - Assistant Principal / Activities Director

Email: jon.mauro@bpsne.net - Phone: 402-293-4046

I am a 1999 graduate of Bellevue West High School.  Following a tremendous experience both in the classroom and in the athletic arena at Bellevue West I went on to earn a B.S. in Secondary Education Social Sciences from Dana College in Blair, Nebraska.  After earning my teaching degree I taught one year in Omaha Public Schools before returning to Bellevue West in 2005 to teach Social Studies.  During my years of teaching I earned an M.S. in Educational Administration from UNO and an M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Peru State College.  After several years of teaching and coaching I went on to become a Dean of Students at Bellevue East where I primarily oversaw student discipline along with a variety of other administrative tasks.  Following my years as a Dean I went on to Papillion-La Vista High School where I served as an Assistant Principal before returning to Bellevue West in 2014 to serve as the Assistant Principal/Activities Director.

As the Activities Director I coordinate all activities and athletics, evaluate staff, participate on our school improvement team, coordinate school and community use of facilities, oversee the activities and athletics budget, and promote our activities and athletic programs.  During my years in education I have developed a philosophy in which I believe all students have the ability to be successful both in the classroom and as a member of one of the many activities we offer at Bellevue West.  We have a tremendous teaching staff that understands the importance of both educating and building relationships with our students.  Our students and staff have established an outstanding culture where students of all backgrounds are accepted and where learning and strong relationships are at the core of what we do everyday.  It is because of our students and our staff that I believe we have the best high school in the state.  Go T-birds!!!
