Boys Tennis

We are excited to begin another season of Thunderbird Boys Tennis! Steve Lemon is the head coach, entering his 21st season at West.  He also teaches math at the school, primarily Algebra II. Matthew Lauritsen is the assistant coach, a freshman math teacher at West.  Coach Lauritsen is beginning his 3rd year as a coach/teacher.

Our primary expectation for the boys on the tennis team is that they give their best effort each and every day, both on the court and in the classroom.  While some consider the sport "individual," we do not.  Our players will support each other no matter what.  Friendships will be made that will last a lifetime.  We strive to win and will compete at a high level.  The main focus, however is "effort and attitude."  Win or lose, we will do so with class and as a team.

We offer Tuesday and Thursday night "open courts" at 7pm each week in the summer.  We will also hold a 6-day boys tennis camp on July 24-25, and July 28-31.  The camp is for boys entering grades 5-8 at 9-10:30am, and for boys entering grades 9-12 at 10:30-12.

Don't forget to get your son an athletic physical prior to the start of the season!  Contact the office at Bellevue West(402-293-4040) for information about physicals and/or start dates for the upcoming season.
