English Language Arts

Students will...

1.  Learn and apply reading skills and strategies to comprehend text.  
2.  Learn and apply writing skills and strategies to communicate.  
3.  Learn and apply speaking and listening skills and strategies to communicate.  
4.  Apply information fluency and practice digital citizenship.  
 

Math 

Students will...

1.  Communicate number sense concepts using multiple representations.
2.  Communicate geometric and measurement concepts using multiple representations.
3.  Communicate algebraic concepts using multiple representations.
4.  Communicate data analysis and probability concepts using multiple representations.

Science 

Students will...

1.  Understand how plants meet their needs and reproduce in their environment.
2.  Understand that all matter is composed of atoms, elements, and compounds that are constantly interacting.
3.  Apply the steps of the scientific method to a scientific experiment.
4.  Understand the forms of energy and how energy is transferred.

Keyboarding 

Students in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 will be taught basic keyboarding skills through an engaging, comprehensive, and aligned curriculum known as the Writer Learning Lab.  As keyboarding skills are developed, effective writing skills are also reinforced.
