Meet the Principal

Bellevue Public Schools is not the first stop on Mrs. Amber Johnson’s journey through education. She served as a former 3rd grade teacher at Leonard Lawrence Elementary school before becoming Lead Teacher at Two Springs Elementary.  Mrs. Johnson also served as Lead Teacher at Bellevue and Fairview Elementary. While each experience was different, the journey has led her Fairview where she is proud to be your principal!

Question: What should students know about you?
Mrs. Johnson: Students should know that I am passionate about what they learn and do each day.  I enjoy students sharing projects and activities that they are working on in class or within the building.  It is a joy to see students excited about their accomplishments each and every day!

Question: What should parents know about you?
Mrs. Johnson: Parents should know that working together to create a strong school/home relationship is the foundation to a successful educational experience for their child(ren).  As a parent myself, I have the same high expectations for all of our students.  We create these expectations by working together and creating a strong collaborative partnership with each other.

Question: Did you always want to be a principal?
Mrs. Johnson: Prior to becoming a teacher and principal, I was a nursing student at the UNMC.  I have found that I am most passionate about teaching whether it is teaching staff, students, or families.  I am a teacher at heart and always consider myself one, even in my role as a principal.

Question: What do you like about Fairview?
Mrs. Johnson: I LOVE our community of staff, students, and families.  Fairview is a dynamic school with such a strong school/home connection.  I have tremendous pride about the way that we work as a team to accomplish the same goals.

Question: What is your philosophy in dealing with students and parents?
Mrs. Johnson: My philosophy when working students and parents is open and honest communication.  In order to work collaboratively, we must be open to flexibility and understanding of one another.

Question: What is your favorite dessert?
Mrs. Johnson: My favorite dessert is just about anything!  I have a sweet tooth for all things sweet.

Mrs. Johnson has been with the Bellevue Public Schools for 14 years and in her 8th year as Fairview’s building principal.
